Evaluation System

The present iCR evaluation system is a combination of formative and summative assessments based on the language functionalities detailed in ACTFL Proficiency Benchmarks — Can–Do Statements and linguistic skills in China’s official Chinese Proficiency Grading Standards.

The system is designed for Pre-AP levels covering iCR 1-17 and the ACTFL Novice through Intermediate High levels. Formative assessments composed of a total of 20 selected readers per iCR level with a comprehensive post-reading questions track students’ in process performance and progress. A series of well-designed summative level-up tests are placed at ACTFL language proficiency major levels and Sub-Levels. The system adopted user-friendly and popular test formats used in common Chinese standardized tests (AAPPL/STAMP /HSK/YCT/).
